NCADEMI: National Center on Accessible Digital Educational Materials & Instruction

The Center

Welcome to the home of the National Center on Accessible Digital Educational Materials & Instruction! As of October 1, 2024, we are a new technical assistance center funded by the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) at the U.S. Department of Education. Our initialism, NCADEMI, is pronounced “n-cademy.”

At NCADEMI, “accessible” means educational technology that works for all students with disabilities. Our goal is helping schools and families improve the accessibility of digital educational materials and instruction from preschool through high school graduation.

With our partners, we are helping five priority populations:

  1. State and Local Educational Agencies to improve the evaluation, procurement, selection, creation, and use of accessible digital educational materials and instruction across preK–12.
  2. Part C Lead Agencies to improve the preparation of infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families to use accessible digital educational materials and instruction in preschool and other early learning programs.
  3. OSEP-funded Technical Assistance & Dissemination Centers to improve the accessibility of their digital products and services.
  4. OSEP-funded Parent Information Centers to improve the preparation of parents to communicate the needs of their children with disabilities for accessible digital educational materials and instruction.
  5. Pre- and In-service Educator and Administrator Programs to improve the preparation of new teachers and school leaders to create, select, and use accessible digital educational materials and instruction.
In addition to those populations, we’ll be providing universally relevant resources for everyone interested in making digital educational materials and instruction accessible. Our website is under construction and will be available soon—right here!
