As schools increasingly rely on digital learning materials, and with new regulations under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title II, there is an urgent need to ensure those materials are accessible from the beginning. Without accessibility, many students are unable to fully access and participate in digital learning, creating barriers to academic achievement. Yet starting this work can feel overwhelming given the volume of digital materials used across a system. This session from the National Center on Accessible Digital Educational Materials and Instruction (NCADEMI) will bring to life a practical roadmap for prioritizing high-impact activities that move accessibility work forward. Drawing on guidance and resources from our center, presenters will highlight how to set goals, build a cross-disciplinary steering committee, and define role-specific expectations for accessibility knowledge. We will highlight strategies for embedding accessibility into the selection, creation, procurement, evaluation, and use of accessible digital educational materials. Attendees will have the chance to reflect on elements of their current systems and identify one immediate action they can take within their role. They will leave with use-it-tomorrow strategies, access to free asynchronous learning modules, and information about no-cost professional development opportunities to support sustained implementation.
