OSEP Conference 2026: Advancing Access to Educational Materials Through Systemic Action Poster Session

Under IDEA, schools are responsible for ensuring students with IEPs receive accessible educational materials in a timely manner. For special educators and IEP teams, this often means coordinating formats such as braille, large print, audio, or digital text. At the same time, the accessibility of digital materials used across classrooms directly impacts student access, requiring a coordinated, system-level approach. This poster highlights how states and school districts can strengthen accessibility across the ways materials reach students, from procurement and educator-created and -selected content to conversion into accessible formats. It introduces an evidence-based framework developed by NCADEMI, the Quality Indicators for the Provision and Use of Accessible Materials. Attendees will explore practical entry points for improving accessibility, find tools to assess readiness and reflect on current practices, and identify one actionable next step to implement within 30 days.
