Accessibility Fundamentals Course Information 

Making digital instructional content accessible means ensuring that students with disabilities can perceive, navigate, and engage with learning materials. These lessons on accessibility fundamentals will help educators quickly learn what they need to create more accessible documents, videos, and images. 

Intended Users

This resource can be used by: 

  • Individual educators who want to strengthen their accessibility skills. 
  • Education agencies—such as states or school districts—interested in offering large-scale professional learning. 
  • Educator preparation programs seeking to integrate accessibility practices into general and special education curricula. 

Completing This Course

Each lesson in this course follows a consistent layout:

You should plan for 10–20 minutes to complete each lesson, or about 2 1/2 hours total. 

Certificate of Completion

A certificate of completion is available for this module. To earn this certificate, you must score 100% on all of the quizzes in this module (you have unlimited retakes) and complete the feedback survey.

Others will be guides for creating accessible content in common tools like Google Docs. We will use the Inbox feature built into Canvas to announce new content.
